In a gem called West Annapolis sits another gem called b.b. Bistro. The fresh, local, and inspired restaurant parallels the vibe in West Annapolis, where most businesses are locally-owned and the owners are inspired by the fields in which they work. This inspiration at b.b. Bistro results in the freshest meals possible, wonderful service, and the customers feeling good about what they eat.
B.b. Bistro isn’t a big restaurant; it seats maybe 30 people between the quirky inside and the porch outside (which is pet-friendly). Once inside, guests can buy local produce that’s stacked on the left. Near the register, there are baubles of all kind and locally-crafted artwork. The counter is decorated with huge painted flowers of all colors, which complements the lime green walls, colorful mismatched dining chairs and tables, and the eclectic decorations. A side behind the counter asks guests to be patient as all food is made in-house. Another sign tells customers that eggs served in b.b. Bistro come from free-range (a.k.a. happy and healthy) chickens. A painted messages roams around the walls that says something like “You are what you eat, so I chose to eat local and healthy.” It’s a message of motivation and acts as a sign of what’s to come on plates–colorful, tasty, and local.

The cozy yet energetic restaurant also offers daily specials like veggie pie with garden salad, roasted beet and goat cheese salad, and wraps. “The veggie pie is good, I made it myself,” a waitress/clerk told me and smiled. She was indeed right; the veggie pie consisted of roasted eggplant and squash layered with feta and spinach inside a puff pastry dough. Served hot, it was the perfect savory complement to the crisp side garden salad. My meal was less than $10 and oh-so delicious. As a reward for eating so healthy, I also ordered a vanilla latte with soy milk which rounded out the meal perfectly. The latte cost $4.
